Night-Vision/EOS 2009
September 30, 2009 - October 01, 2009
Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center, Maryland, USA
Introduction
“Making Sense of Sensors”
Coherency and Relevance vs Data Deluge and Bandwidth Consumption
The 2009 Shephard NV and EOS conference will build on the 2008 sea change, which successfully encompassed the full range of electro-optical systems (EOS) being used by the military, security services and rescue organisations around the world. In addition to updating the audience on developments in core technologies, 2009 will explore the opportunities offered by the vast array of sensors, platforms and systems available now or in the near future. However, this abundance of solutions in a data-rich environment poses fundamental questions to all academics, scientists, policy makers and operators. Are we accessing the best available data? Is it being sifted, sorted, analysed and integrated accurately and quickly enough, and provided to the end user in the most usable form?

The Shephard NV and EOS conference will bring academics, scientists, industry, commanders and operators together to explore the choices that have to be made if we are to maximise the value of EOS to the people on the frontline. In data collection - as with many other areas - just because you can, doesn’t mean that you should.
